Obsessed

I love houses. The more crafty the house, the more often I'm going to want to wander by and stare at it. I am in hog heaven here in SF, especially after living in LA where home architecture gets pretty bland. So I've been sketching my neighborhood and all the little Victorian details that I drool over. The result is my own creation above, which satisfied the kid in me that likes drawing geometry and daisies.

Still Drawing...

Being unemployed has its perks (aside from the whole lack of income, and I'm not even going to mention the economy). For instance, I don't think I've drawn this much ever.

It's been like I'm making up for lost time.

The New Digs

I've had a few requests (Mom...) for pictures of my new apartment here in San Francisco.

It's small, but sunny.

This Little Piggy

"In the small village of Pomaire, Chile, it is believed that 'chanchitos', little pigs, bring good luck. Three-legged chanchitos are especially fortunate and are traditionally given to friends as a token of goodwill and love."

Isn't he a cutie? My dear pal Aubrey found him and gave him to me and he'll come with me to the Big City.

Best Bets

I haven't drawn a lot of portraits, but I enjoyed doing this one of my sister, Betsy. Perhaps I'll do more; there's something about that moment where it begins to look like them...

Movin' & Shakin'

My books are currently occupying my living room floor, creating neat little canyons to and from the kitchen. I'm not sure how many I'll be able to take with me to San Francisco (when am I ever going to need to read a comprehensive analysis of Nepalese love letters when I can reread Harry Potter?), but I'd hate to leave any behind. They give a room character, not to mention comfort.

Happy New Year!

As I was watching the holidays fly by, I drew this portrait for my boss, Susan. Meet Hamilton and Wilson, a couple of Very Good Dogs. It's a farewell gift -- I'm quitting my accounting job and moving to San Francisco. It's my way of grabbing 2009 by the, erm, cojones. Crazy? Oh you betcha'.
